Spring has gone by in a flash, full of celebrations. This year, I turned 50 — and so did my car. To mark the occasion, we both paid a visit to the Ferrari factory and the town of Maranello, and I even took my mother as co-driver for the journey. As you can imagine it was a special moment.
This summer is shaping up to be a remarkable one for the classic car community. From concours lawns to specialist workshops, we are seeing once again that the most memorable cars are not only beautifully presented, but also properly documented, carefully preserved, and surrounded by passionate owners who know their stories by heart.
At The Motor Chain, this is exactly the spirit we love to celebrate: the history behind the metal, the effort behind the restoration, and the people who keep these cars alive for the next generation. That is why we are especially pleased to continue recognizing the Best Documented Car in Show at selected events this season, including the Zurich Classic Car Award, and for the first time Ascona Classic Car Award.
The Zurich Classic Car Award has become a special moment in our calendar, and it remains one of the best places to see how originality, presentation, and documentation come together in a truly impressive field of cars. Ascona, with its elegant lakeside setting and concours tradition, offers a different but equally inspiring atmosphere, where heritage and craftsmanship are appreciated in a very personal way. We are extremely happy to highlight that FM-Oldtimer is joining TMC’s certified professionals family. They are specialized in pre-war cars. For owners of early classics, that kind of expertise is especially important, because these vehicles require not only technical skill, but also a deep respect for originality, period correctness, and historical detail. In a world where old cars are increasingly treasured as rolling heritage, specialists like this play a vital role in keeping them authentic and on the road. For those who prefer their classics in motion, Smell of Classics is preparing a “One Tank Tour” in July through the Schwarzwald.
